Obituary for Dorothy May Johnson
In loving memory to a feisty, independent woman. She was a Wife, Mother, Waitress, School Teacher and Water Aerobics Instructor. Dorothy was born January 14, 1916 to Owen Jones and May Anderson in Barrett, KS. She moved to Council Bluffs in June 1945 and moved into her current residence on June 10, 1945. She taught kindergarten at Gunn school and Kreft school in Council Bluffs. Dorothy received her Master’s Degree in education from the University of Omaha. Dorothy was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church in Council Bluffs. She loved to knit, crochet, and work crossword puzzles. Dorothy May Jones and John Henry “Jack” Johnson were married on May 22, 1942 at the Jones Residence in Barrett, KS. She is preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Josephine “Cindy” Johnson; son Lloyd Clayton “Clay” Johnson; husband John Henry “Jack” Johnson; granddaughter Amanda Raye Johnson; grandson Mark Allen Johnson; brothers Owen Robert Jones and William Paul Jones and sister Ida Leah Jones. Surviving family include her brother Lloyd; her son Ron Johnson and wife Barbara of Georgetown, TX;, her daughter Verna Hainline and husband Mitch of Council Bluffs; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
