Franklin Jason Russell, Jr., age 92, passed away June 28, 2011 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Franklin was born June 23, 1919 in Adrian, MI, to the late Franklin and Mary (Warren) Russell, Sr.
Franklin was a Major in the Air Force. During World War II he was a navigator in the 68th Squadron of the 428th Troop Carrier Group. This group dropped paratroopers in the invasion over Normandy and other various missions. He was the recipient of Wings of Navigation, 9th Airborne Unit Citation, 5 Air Medals, and seven Battle Stars. After his military service Franklin taught Politic Science/History at Iowa Western, Bellevue University, and Brownell Talbot and completed his career as the head of the College of Continuing Studies at University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Franklin was preceded in death by his wife Anne Haley Russell.
Franklin is survived by his sons Jason Russell and Tom Russell (Nancy), daughters: Mary Kinstler and Margaret Davis (Tim), four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Private services will be held in Chicago at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
