Obituary for Fred J. 'Doc' Mace
Fred J. "Doc" Mace, age 91, of Underwood, Iowa, passed away surrounded by family on October 16th at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Doc was born February 24, 1918 in Beebeetown, Iowa to Fred and Magdalena Mace and attended school in Underwood. In addition to farming and to working for more than thirty years at Stokley Lumberyard in Underwood, Fred was an accomplished carpenter, roofer, and mechanic.
Doc was preceded in death by his son David and his wife of sixty-five years, the former Ruth O. Page. Survivors include his children, Donald Fredrick, Kay Ellen, JoLene Marie, Ruthann, and Elizabeth Jane, twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Docs family was the center of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether simply driving country roads or hunting and fishing from Alaska to the Gulf of Mexico with friends and family.

Cemetery: Interment to follow at Fisher Cemetery in Underwood, IA.
Visitation: Visitation will be held 3-5pm, Sunday at Maher~Livingston Funeral Home.
Service: Funeral service will be held 1pm, Monday at Underwood Lutheran Church, 10 3rd Ave., Underwood, IA.
