Harriett L Oxford, age 92, passed away November 6th 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs. Harriett was born April 9, 1924 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Harry & Ida Overgard. She was united in marriage to Orville Oxford on Oct 4, 1942 in El Paso, Texas where Orville was stationed in the US Army. They farmed in the Broken Bow area for many years before moving to Council Bluffs. Harriett was a faithful wife & loving mother to 3 kids and enjoyed sewing & caring for her family. She was an AVON representative for 47 years and played the keyboard in the Golden Beaters Kitchen Band at the Council Bluffs Senior Center for many years. She always said her musical talent was a gift from God & she liked to share it with others. She was also a member of First Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher & pianist for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and her husband Orville, who was the love of her life. Harriett is survived by one son Keith (Jean), and daughter Karma (Robert) Rosenbaum, both from Lincoln Nebraska, and also daughter Trudy (Terry) Weare of Council Bluffs; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and a host of friends. Private family service was held at Fairview Cemetery in Council Bluffs. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Lutheran Home.
