Obituary for Karen Elaine Woosley
Karen E. Woosley, 74 of Council Bluffs, passed away December 30, 2014 in Waterloo, IA. Karen was born on May 14, 1940 in Kent, IA and graduated from Cromwell Consolidated High School on May 21, 1958. After graduation, she worked full time at Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) in Creston, IA. On November 4, 1961, Karen married Michael Woosley and went part time at ASCS until the birth of their first child in 1964. They lived in Creston until 1968 and then moved the family to Council Bluffs and ran an insurance agency business. In 1974, Karen and Michael moved the family and the business to Red Oak, IA. During this time, they won trips to Europe, the Bahama Islands, and California, which started their lifelong love of travel. In 1991, they moved back to Council Bluffs and enjoyed traveling across the Midwest selling advertising until retiring in 2005. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and spending time together. The highlight was time spent with their family-supporting their grandchildren’s sports activities of racing, hockey, and soccer. As a mother and house wife-Karen happily endured and successfully accomplished one of the toughest jobs of raising children and maintaining the home. She enjoyed her time working in the yard and garden. She enjoyed her house plants, reading, and was an awesome cook in addition to handling all the paperwork for the businesses. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 2013. She is survived by her children Michael and Sharon Woosley; Roxanne and Steve Droste; Monte and Erin Woosley; grandsons Tyler Droste, Zach Woosley and Grant Woosley.
