Kathryn J. Hatcher, age 78, passed away on January 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 3, 1945, in Silver City, Iowa, to the late Rudolph and Wilma Menschel. Kathryn was a proud graduate of Glenwood High School in Glenwood, Iowa.
On June 23, 1968, Kathryn embarked on a lifelong journey with her beloved husband, James (Jim) Hatcher. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. James preceded her in death, leaving behind a legacy of shared joy and enduring companionship.
Kathryn was not only a dedicated wife but also a loving mother. She is survived by her sons, James (Jamie) Hatcher, and wife Jillian, Jason Hatcher, and wife Marissa who carry forward the lessons of strength, resilience, and compassion that she imparted upon them. Kathryn's grandchildren, Anthony, Ava, Aubree, and Miles, were the lights of her life, bringing immeasurable joy and pride to her heart. Also, survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn joins her brothers Marlin and Dwayne Menschel, sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Gene Gough, and brother-in-law Delmar Decker in eternal rest. She leaves behind a sister, Bonnie Decker, and sister-in-law Sharon Menschel, who will cherish the memories of their shared journey together.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Maher Funeral Home. Please join the family for the visitation at 10AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11AM. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to come together, share stories, and find solace in the memories they hold dear. A luncheon will be held after services at Open Door Baptist Church Gymnasium, located at 2701 Ave N, Council Bluffs, IA. In lieu of flowers, kindly direct memorials to the family.

Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
