Obituary for Mabel Rose Heuermann
Mabel Rose (Urwiller) Heuermann, age 97, of Council Bluffs, passed away on July 22, 2013. She was born in Ravenna, NE on April 13, 1916 to Henry and May (Lange) Urwiller; who preceded her in death. Mabel was educated in a one room sod school house and was the only child in her class for the first eight years. She went on to graduate from Ravenna High School. Mabel was the first child to leave the family farm area moving to Omaha to become a professional certified dental assistant. She was the past president of the Omaha Chapter of Dental Assistants and worked for many years for Dr. Henry Merchant who was widely regarded for cutting edge work in gold foil dentistry. Mabel became an Instructor of Dental Assisting at Creighton and Metro Tech. and a member of the Council Bluffs Business and Professional Women. She was very active in religious education at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Council Bluffs. In addition to her parents, Mabel is preceded in death by her husband Lee Heuermann, siblings Merle, Gordon, Henry Jr., Dr. Kenneth Urwiller, Evelyn Werth, and Pearl Spahr; brothers-in-law John Spahr (Pearl), Lawrence Koehler (Blanche), Walter Werth (Evelyn), Forrest Miller (Hazel), sisters-in-law Eiliene Heuermann, Hazel Miller, Ruth Heuermann (Art), Maxine Urwiller (Gordon), and Phyllis Urwiller (Kenneth). She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Benna Hemmingsen and husband Rob; grandchildren Shannon Benna, Luke, R.J., Mark, and John Hemmingsen; sister and brother-in-law Blanche Koehler, Dr. Richard Urwiller (Suzanne); brother-in-law Arthur Heuermann, sister-in-law Maureen Urwiller (Henry Jr.), Delores Urwiller (Merle), and many nieces and nephews. Mabel lived her life beautifully with commitments to exploring creativity and nurturing growth.

Cemetery:
A private inurnment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
