Myrtle Jean (McCauley) Clifton, age 80, of Council Bluffs, passed away February 15, 2009 at mercy Hospital. Jean was born February 17, 1928 in Council Bluffs to William and Mae McCauley. She worked for many years for Morphy Drug and after a short retirement, Jean worked at Bishop Buffet in Council Bluffs as a cashier. Jean and her husband Gordon moved to Louisiana and later to Arkansas before moving back to the Council Bluffs area, to be with family and friends. Jeans many interests included bingo, bowling, boating, reading, and music. She was also a member of the VFW auxiliary\r\nPost #5742 in Cotter, AK.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gordon Clifton(2006); grandson Anthony Lightell(2003); her parents William and Mae McCauley; brothers Merle, Don, and Lyle; sisters Fern, Helen, and Velma.

She is survived by her loving children, daughter Judy and Bill Lightell of Omaha; son Ron and Rae Jean Clifton of Honey Creek; grandchildren Lori Schenkelberg, Ryan and Brandy Clifton, Kellie and Bill Harry, Mike and Erin Clifton; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Earl and Jo McCauley; sister Edith and Don Lewis; special cousin-in-law Norma Sis Kidwell.

Memorials:
Memorials are suggested to the Animal Shelter or PAWS.

Cemetery:

Interment will be in Grange Cemetery, Honey Creek, Iowa.
