Norma Joyce Richter, age 89, passed away on February 5, 2025, at Northcrest Living Center, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She was born on January 24, 1936, to the late George and Evelyn Horkey in Fulda, Minnesota, at her grandmother’s home. Norma was of the Lutheran faith. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1967. Norma was a hard worker. She worked at Conagra for many years and then at Harrah's Casino, retiring after 13 years of service. Norma was many things in her life. She was a mother to her 6 children, a loving wife to her late husband, Milton Richter, a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Norma had countless blessings and she will be remembered by many.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Milton in 2014; son, Kevin Richter in 1976; grandson, Cory in 1983; and her sister, Marie.
Norma is survived by her only daughter, Marilyn Mass of Carson, Iowa; 4 sons: Jerry (Cindy) Richter of Sidney, Iowa, Roger (Kathleen) Richter, Gary (Lori) Richter, both of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dennis (Kim) Richter of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Thomas) Bernemann of Council Bluffs; other extended family members and friends.
Graveside Service Monday, February 10, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery. Service will be officiated by her grandson, Jason Mass. Memorials will be directed by the family.
