Norma Jean Nymann, age 80, of Council Bluffs passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jean was born on July 15, 1942 in Villisca, Iowa to Paul and Della (Chubick) Devine. Jean was united in marriage to Donald Nymann Sr. in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 9, 1965. Jean moved with her family to Monroe, Wisconsin in 1971 where she spent the next twenty years raising her children Don Jr. and Paula. She was employed by the Monroe Clinic for twenty years performing medical recordkeeping and appointment scheduling.
She returned to Council Bluffs with her husband in 1991 and embarked on a second career of working in the medical profession as a billing specialist, a pharmacy technician, and as a caregiver for persons with special needs for Developmental Services of Iowa (DSI). In addition to this, Jean was also a caregiver to her mother Della as well as countless other family members and friends. Jean was a regular and enthusiastic member of City Lights Church in Council Bluffs.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Nymann Sr. in 2017, and her brother Dennis Devine in 2011.
Survivors include her son Don (Ann) Nymann Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin, daughter Paula Nymann of Sun Valley, California, 2 grandchildren, Emily and Michael Nymann of Madison, Wisconsin, brothers, Norman (Pat) Devine and Joe Devine of Council Bluffs and many cherished nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at North Avenue Towers, 103 North Avenue in Council Bluffs in the community room on Wednesday 6/14 at 1:00pm. Family will direct memorials.
Jean was a woman of faith, a social butterfly, a selfless caretaker, and a wonderful mom and grandma.
