Obituary for Orville Harding Oxford
Orville H. Oxford, age 91, was born on April 15, 1921 to Bert and Rosa (Deal) Oxford on a farm 15 miles southwest of Broken Bow, NE and departed this life on August 15, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs. He attended school in the East Custer district 16 miles south of Broken Bow, NE while living with his parents in a sod house. He was united in marriage to Harriett L. Overgard on October 4, 1942. Orville was drafted into the army on August 9, 1942 and served in the European Theatre of WWII in France, Holland, England, and Germany. He was awarded 4 Battle Stars and was honorably discharged in September of 1945. Orville farmed in the Broken Bow area for 11 years. In November of 1956, he moved to Council Bluffs where he worked for Peoples’ Natural Gas Co. for 27 years. During retirement he enjoyed fishing, vacationing and had several hobbies that kept him busy. He also played drums and harmonica in The Golden Beater Band. Orville was also a member of The Fish and Game Club. Orville was a devoted husband, father, and a very patient man. Preceding him in death were his parents. Orville is survived by his wife Harriett, one son Keith and wife Jean of Malcolm, NE; daughter Karma Rosenbaum and husband Robert of Lincoln, NE; daughter Trudy Weare and husband Terry of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends

Cemetery:
Private graveside services were held at Fairview Cemetery in Council Bluffs.
