Paul N. McMullen, 88, former Deputy Chief of FAA Airway Facilities, SW Region, died May 29, 2011, at his daughters home in TX. Born Jan. 31, 1923, near McClelland, IA to Leroy and Elsie McMullen, he graduated from Underwood High School, drafted into the Army, 99th Infantry Division, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, and after recovery was assigned to Pattons 3rd Army field headquarters and wounded a second time.
On December 14, 1945, he married his sweetheart, Leona M. Ford, in Council Bluffs, IA. Paul and Leona were blessed with three daughters, Marcia Ann, Connie Louise and Karen Sue. They lost a son, David Paul, born too soon, between Marcia and Connie.
Starting in 1951, Paul worked for the CAA/FAA in remote stations at Pierre, SD; Rock Springs, WY; and Miles City, MT. From 1956-1963, he taught at the FAA Academy in Okla. City. From 1963-1968, he was a regional FAA administrator in Kansas City and relocated his family to Overland Park, KS. In 1968 he became Deputy Chief of the Airways Facilities, SW Region, and moved to Bedford, then Hurst, TX, where he continued to live after Leonas death on April 30, 2001. Since Nov. 2010 Paul resided with Karen and Russ Ault in Rhome, TX. He was active in church, Sunday school and bi-monthly bridge games until his last day, attending the First United Methodist Church of Hurst, on the morning of his death. He took a nap after lunch and peacefully passed into the Lords hands.
Survivors include: Marcia and Robin Clouser of Schwenksville, PA; Connie and Dennis Baker of Olathe, KS; Karen and Russ Ault of Rhome, TX; sisters-in-law Della McKinney of Council Bluffs, IA and Wilma Twaranovica and husband Joe of Urbana, IL; 4 grandsons, 2 step-grandsons and 6 great-grandchildren

Interment will be at Hardin Township Cemetery, where he will be placed next to Leona, his wife of 55 yrs.
