Obituary for Richard 'Dick' L. Poffenbarger, Sr.
Richard Dick L. Poffenbarger, Sr., age 73, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away June 15, 2010 at his home.

Dick was born July 2, 1936 in Council Bluffs, IA to the Arthur (Art) and Bertha (Thacker) Poffenbarger Henderson. He attended Longfellow Grade School, Boomer Junior High and was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. He held degrees in business administration and Management from Alexander Hamilton Institute, B.A., University of Southern California extention, MBA from U.S. Thunderbird Management Program SAC and various certification programs. Dick was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a decorated Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy and was a true patriot.

Dick worked and traveled world wide for different firms including; 10 years with Vickers, Inc., 16 years with Control Data Corporation, five years with Eclipse Technology Corporation and retired after 12 years with the Council Bluffs Municipal Housing Agency. He excelled in Management and held positions from Foreman to Company President.

Dick enjoyed fishing, playing snooker, gambling on slot machines, harassing talk shows, politicians by email, Dixieland music and a good martini.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill.

Dick will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Ellen (Boren) Poffenbarger, daughter Penny Thomas and husband Matt, sons: Richard Poffenbarger, Jr. and David Poffenbarger and wife Leigh, grandchildren: Ben McFadden, Sammy and Alexis Poffenbarger, sisters: Bertie Cowlhand and Ardith Caputo and husband Bob, brother: Larry Poffenbarger, host of niece, nephews, family and friends.

At his request there will be no services held.
