Obituary for Robert 'Bob' E. Klepfer
Robert Bob Earl Klepfer, age 81, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Sunday, June 6, 2010 after a short battle with lung cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on July 30, 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa. He felt very fortunate to have been adopted by Evelyn (Williams) and Earl Klepfer. He lived his entire life in Council Bluffs, IA and attended Holy Family School. He was a master sergeant in the Iowa National Guard serving for eight years in Tank Company and became a licensed master plumber.

Bob worked for fifteen years at the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a pipefitter. He then started C & B Plumbing and Heating with his partner, Clarence Maddox. He was a member of Kiwanis. Bob went on to own Boyer Hardware Hank in Glenwood and Oakland True Value Farm (Hardware Hank) & Home Center in Oakland, IA. After retiring, he continued to operate Klepfer Apartments in Oakland, IA. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Minnesota as well as often visiting Branson, MO.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roberta Durbin.

Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Mavis Darrow Klepfer originally from Anita, Iowa and children: Steve & Joyce Klepfer of Council Bluffs, Jane & Kenneth Brandes of Hancock, Wendy & Larry Hackett of Oakland, and Robert (Rob) & Kelly Klepfer of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Amanda (Klepfer) & Neal Smith, Jeremy Klepfer, Jamie (Klepfer) & Jim Rose, Brianne (Brandes) & Ryan Duede, Ben & Leslie Brandes, Brittany (Brandes) & Trevor Brierly, Corey & Jennifer Hackett, Carley (Hackett) & Zack Husz, Jordan & Leann Klepfer, Julianna Klepfer, and Shelby Klepfer, eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, recently discovered sister, Peggy and brother, Odis Trammell, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends & neighbors.

Memorials:
Bob was respectfully cared for these last few months by the staff of Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Ascera Care Hospice. Memorials are suggested to Sherwood Community Church, American Lung Association, or Ascera Care Hospice.

Cemetery:
Interment to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs, IA.

Visitation:
Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Maher-Livingston Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, IA.

Service:
Funeral services will be 10am, Friday, June 11, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Pete Lillestolen and Pastor Ian Hoover officiating.
