Obituary for Shirley Leyk
Shirley Mae Leyk, age 79, of Council Bluffs, passed away January 30, 2015 at Jo and Walt’s home. She was born in Sioux City, IA on November 30, 1935 to Glenn and Myrtle (Johnson) Rowe but it was her grandparents Carl and Ida Johnson who raised her. Shirley worked as a cook and bartender running her own business and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Richard Leyk (2011); sisters Patricia Anderson and Nancy Weber, and brother Terry Weber. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Gail and Rusty Hannibal, Jo and Walter Winger, Joel and Robin Leyk, Jeffrey Leyk, Amy and Marty Scheele, DeAnne Owings; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters Sharon Kann, Janet Graves, and Judy Milner; and brother Gary Weber.
