Obituary for Verla M. Gray
Verla M. Gray, age 92, formerly of Council Bluffs, passed away February 28, 2009, at her daughters home in Creston, NE. Verla was born August 12, 1916 in Glenwood to Charles D. and Louise M. Hunt. Verla was a 1934 graduate of Glenwood High School and while working at Glenwood State School, she met her future husband Donald E. Gray.
Verla and Don were married on December 3, 1938 in Sidney, IA and enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Dons death on January 31, 1996. Verla worked at Woolworths in Omaha and the Dollar Store and Kresges in Council Bluffs.
Verla was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who had a love of animals and a talent for craftwork.
Verla is survived by her children William C. Gray and Wife Margaret; Bull Shoales, AK, Dona L. Kratochvil and Husband Cyril, Creston, NE, Deborah J. Ollie and Husband Howard, Council Bluffs; Eleven Grandchildren; Nineteen Great-Grandchildren; Five Great-Great-Grandchildren; Six Nieces and two Nephews.
