Obituary for William T. Lockard
William Tharrington Lockard, age 83, of Council Bluffs, passed away March 17, 2014 at his daughter’s home. William was born on February 9, 1931 in Valley City, MO to William and Della Lockard, who preceded him in death. He was a Teamsters Local 554 member retiring after 38 years of service working with Safeway Stores, Transcon Freight, and PIE. In addition to his parents, William is also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother; son William R. Lockard; daughters Carolyn S. Nielsen and Patricia I. Fichter. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna R. (Franks) Lockard; son John Lockard and wife Francine of Omaha, son Dennis Lockard, daughter Sandra Vincent and husband Danny, all of Council Bluffs; sons-in-law Steve Fichter and William Nielsen; daughter-in-law Wendy Lockard; sister Elizabeth Anderson and husband Gene of Warrensburg, MO; brothers Jim Lockard of Kansas City, MO, Weldon H. Lockard and companion Marvel Jones of Council Bluffs; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to all the caregivers who helped Dad.
